The reserve

East of Thanh Hoa, neighboring to Hoa Binh and 180kms (3.5 hours driving) from Hanoi, Puluong nature reserve is quite well-known among tourists thanks to its stunning rice terrace fields, beautiful nature, superb mountains and traditional villages of ethnic minorities who still retain their unique cultural heritage and way of living. Described as A “microcosm” of Northern Vietnam, Puluong has aspects of Sapa’s magnificent mountain ranges, Mu Cang Chai’s stunning rice terrace fields, Cao Bang’s scenic rivers and waterfalls, Ha Giang’s breathtaking mountain passes and Mai Chau’s authentic villages of ethnic minorities.

The reserve has a total area of 17,662 ha, with three-quarters primary tropical forest. Puluong, together with Ngo Luong nature reserve and Cuc Phuong national park, creating a green zone lengthened approximately 100 km, is the inhabitation of red-list species of Vietnam. Two grey mountain ranges stretch parallel, alternate by green valleys and populous villages of Thai and Muong people. Pu Luong offers many “off the beaten track” options, from trekking in the forest and along the rice terrace fields, to cycling through the reserve and visiting many authentic small villages. Fresh air and mild climate, staying away from the mass, outstanding landscapes, and biodiversity, all are the reasons for being top-rated destinations by travelers over the years.

Puluong nowadays is a must to see for travelers, and a highlight of the journey to Vietnam for international travelers.
