Responsible

We are fully aware of the possible environmental harm caused by tourism. We have a classification system into inflammable waste, organic waste (for instant burying) and waste for processing. Bathroom amenities are for single use only, avoiding chemical and detergent flow into the environment. We have our own wastewater treatment with output that meets national standards. We haven’t faced the possibility of a lack of fresh water, but we still encourage the wise process of reducing water consumption. We use spring water for infinity pools, and with our bio-filter system, we can offer chemical free for guests. 

We try to use eco-friendly products, bring local ingredients and vegetables from surrounding farms into tables. Our chefs study local food specialties carefully then modify into best-selling cuisines satisfied by demanding guests but still maintain its unique tastes. Local handicrafts are respectfully displayed at the top corners of the Retreat, as a certain demonstration of our obligation to the locals.

As usual as in any mountain lodge, we must face “attacks of the nature” like flies, mosquitos, insects, beetles, and May bugs…. We use organic ways to solve the problem: Planting perfumed vegetation/flowers for insect/mosquito repellent. We have our cats to catch rats and chickens to hunt worms and white ants. 

We have the Refill the bottle program within the Retreat. We try to limit usage of plastic implements. Our drinking water is bottled in glass, with daily replacement from our modern water purification system. Guests can refill his own bottle from our water purifiers.

Acting responsible travel, our human resource department frequently offer jobs in local communities. 80% of our labor is from villages, with the initial basic education level. Proper training program, and hand-in-hand coaching from top managers of Puluong Retreat, all help young farmers having new careers: tourism. Some of them are talented, being managers of other resorts or returning home to manage their own homestay business efficiently.

We do encourage smart tourism, sustainable and responsible travel. We prohibit any kind of meat and food from wild and threatened animals, vegetables / fruits / seeds from Red List species. We highly welcome any outdoor activities, sport tourism, connect travellers with locals. We don’t sell alcohol and cigarettes to youngsters. To ensure the air quality and reduce the chance of fire, we have few special smoking areas in the Retreat. At rest, smoking is prohibited.

We encourage charity work and support to local communities. Puluong Retreat has groups of volunteers, and international students coming to the region for road renovation, house building, English teaching. We offer culture exchange program, help people to reach new culture, and enhance their intellectual standards. Music scholarship programs, aids to poverty, and career training are usually carried out.
